Abstract

Following organizations’ infatuation with responsible labeling approaches, workers cooperatives societies (SCOP) have committed to a sector-specific label, RSE SCOP BTP, which pursues a national responsible label. Drawing on the theoretical framework of institutional processes proposed by Hasselbladh and Kallinikos (2000) and the experiences of two cases that were the first to be awarded the label in 2016, we study how this dual labeling is being used to institutionalize CSR in workers cooperatives. Observations show that the double CSR labeling enables workers cooperatives to extend the existing responsible practices (diversification and formalization), and enables cooperatives federations to influence industry organisations favorably towards CSR.
