Abstract

This exploratory research aims to study social representations of food waste through the study of the regional daily press. Understanding social representations is the first step in adapting the communication strategies implemented by stakeholders to fight food waste and, ultimately, to change individual behaviors in a sustainable way. The lexical analysis conducted using Alceste software reveals three categories of discourse. The first one focuses on education and awareness-raising actions to make this cause known among the general public. The second category focuses on commercial valorization actions and on commercial initiatives to tackle this phenomenon. Finally, the third category discusses collective strategies to combat food waste.
