Abstract

The aim of this article is to gain a better understanding of some of the issues involved in recruiting people from disadvantaged areas, the performance legitimization strategies adopted by companies to justify a particular type of recruitment, and the resulting forms of organizational legitimization. This research is based on fifty-three semi-structured interviews and secondary data. Ultimately, it aims to confirm or clarify recruitment and non-recruitment factors, as well as underlying issues. In so doing, it confirms and highlights certain similarities between the concepts of global performance and organizational legitimization. It also highlights a number of legitimization strategies, as well as a social restructuring strategy related to the issue of recruitment. Finally, it describes their consequences in
terms of organizational legitimization.
