Abstract

We propose to study the epidemiological and etiological peculiarities of sudden cardiac death in young adults in the region of Sousse in Tunisia.
A total of 120 cases were collected, 92 men (76.5%) against 28 women (23.5%). The most common cause of death was cardiac rhythm disorders with 30% of cases. Ischemic Heart disease was in second place with 14.1% of cases.
It emerges from this study that the victim is often a 27-year-old male, in good apparent health, deceased in the aftermath a physical effort and whose etiological assessment concluded to a primary cardiac arrhythmia.
