Abstract

Since Peter Drucker’s first work on the role of local managers (1939), many researchers have proposed definitions and analyses of these middle managers. However, few research has been done on the subject of organizational change. The aim of this article is precisely to explain the role of these managers in the transformation of the organization, our central question being: how is the organization transformed by the interactions of local managers? Our answer is based on a case study of a joint venture, for which we use McPhee
and Zaug’s Four flows theory (2000).
